The Flow Project mission is to apply the wisdom and experience of art in transforming humanity’s response to the creative challenges of today’s world.

The purpose of The Flow Project is to provide information currently missing in humanity’s
assessment of the world situation.

World leaders generally do not call on artists to help them assess situations that arise in their
organizations and communities. Artists tend to be valued for the objects and entertainment they
create, not for the knowledge and experience they have acquired through the process of
producing art.

.
Leaders call on political strategists to help them figure out how to handle situations, and they
take political forces into account in developing strategies to handle situations. Likewise, leaders
consult economists to help them understand the principles of economics and economic forces
that shape the world, and they respond to situations based on their understanding of these
principles and forces. The fields of economics and politics are considered very relevant to
leadership; whereas the field of art is often thought to have no bearing on ‘real world’ problems.

.
Today humanity is dealing with life-threatening situations that are not entirely amenable to
political, economic, and military solutions. These situations call for creative solutions, for which
knowledge of the principles of art and artistic forces may be necessary.

.
The Flow Project supplies leaders with practical knowledge and techniques. We work with artists
to identify principles of art and artistic practice common to the artistic experience across
mediums and we work with leadership educators to translate the principles of art into principles
of leadership and leadership practices. This document lays out the strategy for the project.
